Happy belated Thanksgiving! I hope your day was filled with family, friends, and of course, an abundance of food.
Mine was wonderful, thanks for asking. I spent the majority of Wednesday and Thursday morning cooking with my mom, then consumed copious amounts of food as John and I devoured two holiday feasts (Thanksgiving lunch with my fam in the early afternoon, then a second helping of everything with John’s fam later that day). Ah, gluttony – now I understand why you’re a deadly sin. Let’s just say the turkey wasn’t the only thing stuffed.

A few things that need to be brought to your attention:
1) I am now fully employed by a 3-star NY Times restaurant, owned and operated by one of the largest names in the food industry not just in NY, but in the world. (I pinch myself every time I walk into the kitchen . . . → Read More: Gainfully Employed

Sorry for my absence! Things are crazy over here. I have a new new job (it’s pretty sweet) and more kitchen stories to share, but I promised myself I’d make it through a few more Thanksgiving recipes first.
I’ve already introduced you to the wonderful turkey John and I ate, . . . → Read More: Sweet Potato Mash with Crispy Shallots

Year after year, the star of our Thanksgiving feast is unquestionable: turkey!

I love roast turkey. I love the crispy skin, I love the natural gravy, and I really love the leftover sandwiches with potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce, and gravy.

I have a few more Thanksgiving recipes to post, but I’m taking a little breather from them. I’m relaxing to prepare for the long night I have ahead of me.
This past week was crazy and brought about a few changes: I no longer work for the catering company. I might still work at a few events if they ask me to (I have a few lined up this week), but I will no longer be working in the office training as an event planner, and sadly, I’m leaving behind the wonderful guys in the kitchen.
But I’m onto bigger and better things! Continue reading My First Restaurant Experience

Pecan pie. Is there a more perfect fall dessert? Turns out, yes.
I am a huge fan of pecan pie. And cheesecake. (For the best cheesecake you’ve ever tried, check out Two Little Red Hens Bakery on NY’s Upper East Side. Yum.) So it was only natural to combine the two into these adorable, bite-sized Thanksgiving treats.

Maybe it’s my southern roots (Florida barely qualifies), but I love this cornbread stuffing. Or Dressing. It wasn’t cooked in a bird, so technically it’s referred to as “dressing”… but really it’s stuffing.
Potato – Potahtoe
The point? I’m from the South (kind of) and we really like cornbread, which is why I can’t stop eating this stuff. Sweet and savory all in one? Yes, please.

Amidst all the Thanksgiving recipes that are unfolding on the internet, I wanted to share something healthy to get you from one high-caloric meal to the next.
Hummus is one of those things that everyone loves. Seriously. I’ve never met someone who doesn’t like hummus. While chickpeas on their own might not be everyone’s cup of tea, the puréed, garlicy, lemony dip that I frequently see served alongside pita, veggies, and most Middle Eastern fare is simple and delicious.
